On Saturday, September 18, 2010 Puppy Mill Awareness Day was presented by Last Chance for Animals at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles from 11:00 am to 3:00pm to support the Adopt, Don’t Shop initiative and bring awareness of the horrific conditions of puppy mills.

Dog Whisperer Cesar Milan spoke at the event encouraging the packed audience to go to shelters and rescues to adopt, rather than buy at pet stores, which get their dogs from puppy mills. There were a variety of cruelty-free vendors and booths including vegan food booths and Humane education booths, various speakers, a silent auction, face painting and music with a highlighted performance by The Faded whose music is heard in the award-winning documentary Skin Trade.

The event was launched to create awareness against puppy mills which are appalling places for dogs to survive. In the puppy mills, they are bred over and over for pet stores. On her twitter page, Pink made a series of tweets about her experience at the event, saying “It’s puppy mill awareness day and I just got back from the incredible event at La Brea Tar Pits. No more puppy mills!!” “Puppy mills are awful, filthy, cruel places where dogs never see daylight, sleep in their own feces, and r (are) bred over n (and) over for pet stores. Boycott pet stores people!!!!”  She has asked her fans to boycott pet stores.

CRAZY Night At The Forever Hollywood Cemetery Watching 'Night Of The Living Dead' With John Stamos and Mike Love In Tow

Have you ever gone to the Forever Hollywood Cemetery in Hollywood, CA for movie night? If not, I suggest you check it out!  I had the BEST TIME EVER! After participating in Puppy Mill Awareness Day, my Vegan friends and I went to see the black and white movie classic, "Night Of The Living Dead."

We arrived around 4pm, picnicking on the grass while we waited in line. They opened around 630pm and my friends Ryan and Donovan sprinted all the way to the other side of the cemetery to get seats upfront. I have never seen 2 men sprint so fast in my life. They were so fast I couldn't even get my video camera out in time to film them!

We spread out about 6 blankets for every one and had a blast! We took professional photos at the cemetery, courtesy of Forever Hollywood Cemetery and eventually, like grade school children, had a food fight during the film. Sitting on the blanket next to us, unbeknownst to me at the time, were Mike Love from the Beach Boys and John Stamos.  John came over after filming near by to meet Mike.

Waiting in line to get in with my two best girls Melissa and Alicia.

At the end of the night John had peanuts, fruit and bits of watermelon to pick off of his blanket and himself. It was pretty funny and he is obviously a good sport. I did not recognize Mike Love when my friend Ryan introduced me and according to Ryan, I was "crawling all over the blanket and Mike" several times through out the evening :( Oh boy. Now THAT is an introduction!

With Kerry and Donovan

Good sport John Stamos

If I could change one or two things about the evening, it would be #1.....that I didn't hit Ryan in the nose with a HUGE banana, and Kerry in the nose with a box of crackers and #2.....that the night were longer!  Hey Hollywood about a double feature next time?

Serita and Ryan talk to the legend, Mike Love from The Beach Boys.

Donovan and Melissa, right before dvouring Clara's Cupcakes.......Vegan made and delicious!

Only a portion of the Food Fight Gang!

Ryan......before he got hit in the nose with one of those huge bananas!
